Woking Society of Arts is the major Art Club in the Woking Area.

See the experts in action at regular meetings and meet like-minded people.Demonstrations in various methods and painting mediums including Oils, Acrylic, Watercolour, Mixed-Media.

From 2:20 to 4:30pm at The Vyne, Knaphill, on the first Saturday of every month.
New members and visitors are welcome.
Occasional workshops and outdoor painting sessions.
Indoor and Outdoor Exhibitions of members' work,
several times each year, include annual competitions.
Members range from aspiring beginners to professionals.

Our aim is to provide inspiration at friendly meetings for those interested in the practice and appreciation of the visual arts and to encourage a wider interest in visual arts in Woking and the surrounding district.

Description: Photographers of all ages and abilities are invited to submit their work to The Lightbox Photographic Open Competition. In keeping with our 10 year anniversary in 2017, this year we are inviting entries in the theme of 'Celebration and Anniversary'. Successful entries will be displayed at The Lightbox from 14 October 2017 - 7 January 2018.

Final application and submission deadline:Monday 4 September 2017

Prizes: £500 for Best in Show

£250 The People’s Prize

£100 Young Photographer's Prize (13 – 17years)

Entry Fee: £10.00

Exhibition dates: Saturday 14 October 2017 – Sunday 7 January 2018

Two Events for Artists

Here we have two events with Woking Council.

Firstly Party in the Park on our Party Day 8th July. If anyone would like to take part and paint live or have their own stall, they are encouraged to contact Tara Stevenson.

Secondly there is an event taking place at Woking Library - called Woking Maker Day.

Woking Art Society Summer Party

This Year we really want to have a celebration of our members and allow for a little time to get to know each other on a personal level, we are all interested in Art, but what else do we not know about one another.

So we have booked the Cricketers Pub in Horsell for a Lunchtime spread. There are tickets for 60 people on a first come first served basis. (We plan to make our food choice from the party menu and this will either be BBQ in style or Buffet. There new Seasons menu comes out soon) There will of course be vegetarian and gluten free options, please let us know of any special requirements. There will be some sort of refreshment drink to start and then it will be a case of get what you'd like from the garden bar.

We hope you will be able to come along.

IT is suggested that you park in Kestrel Way. There is a short cut through to the pub.

‘A Community Art Exhibition for Refugee Week 2017’

What is Refugee Week?

Refugee week is a UK-wide programme of arts, cultural and educational events and activities that celebratesthe contribution of refugees to the UK and promotes better understanding of why people seek sanctuary. Theaim of Refugee Week is to raise awareness and to provide an important opportunity for asylum seekers andrefugees to be seen, listened to and valued within our communities.

The exhibition theme is ‘Journey Together’

Artwork should be A3 size and can be landscape or portrait. The work should be 2D forframing and printing purposes. Painting, drawing, photography, print & written word (i.e.haiku poetry or calligraphy) will be acceptable. We will arrange for the winning pieces to beframed.

Please select and submit the best 10 pieces of artwork per school. Please note that we mayonly exhibit 5, but we will let you know what pieces have been selected for the exhibition.

Please contact Tara Stevenson on 01483 743696 to arrange for the artwork to be collectedw/c Monday 17th April. Artwork should all be returned by Friday 21 April at the very latest.

As a thank you for taking part in Refugee Week we will award x2 cinema tickets for thewinning submissions from each school, or community group, exhibited during RefugeeWeek.

You will need to give your artwork a title and submit a short blurb alongside it. Please complete theattached registration form; one for each submissions, maximum 10
